The Department was established in the year 1999 and with present intake of 120. The IT department promises commitment to excellence in quality of work, academic performances and teamwork across various disciplines. The department focuses on innovation for students to meet the evolving trends in various technologies and assures collaborative learning experience during their course. As a recognition the department has been twice accredited by NBA, New Delhi in 2008 & 2013. Permanent Affiliation has been approved by Anna University for IT department. The IT Department works with various other organizations to develop innovative strategies and placement for the students. Many of alumni of IT department got placed in prominent software companies like Infosys, CTS, Hexaware, ZOHO etc., and others pursuing higher studies abroad.

To be recognized as a Centre of Excellence for stimulating the creation and exchange of knowledge by providing better service to enhance student progress through effective teaching and learning process there by leading to innovation, professionalism, teaching work and continuous improvement.

It is my pleasure and honour to welcome you all to the department of Information Technology at Sri Krishna College of Technology, Coimbatore. Started in the year 1999, over the last three and half decades, Department of IT is one of the most sought after departments at SKCT and also in this region. Department of IT works with the primary focus of connecting academia with industries to address the critical challenges faced by all our stake holders. Department is supported by faculty members with excellent academic credentials, strong commitment to this noble profession and has diversified specialization such as Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Blockchain Technology,Data Analytics and Various areas. In our department, teaching and research are carried out with equal importance. The Department has excellent laboratory infrastructure which are being upgraded from time to time and provide ample opportunities for the students to learn and innovate. Department of IT is funded by several funding agencies like DST-SEED,Dassault Systems,TNSCST. Department houses a Centre of Excellence in CTS sponsored IOT Lab, DELL EMC, VMWare, Uipath. The department has produced over 2,000 alumni. More than 150 papers are published in many refereed international Journals which are indexed by Scopus and WoS. PROGRAM EDUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES
PEO1. Graduates will apply the principles of information technology, mathematics and related engineering field to solve real-world problems appropriate to the discipline and succeed in an information system career.
PEO2. Graduates will Contribute and communicate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams to successfully complete projects and perform services related to information system to meet customer business objectives
PEO3. Graduates will function ethically and responsibly, and will remain informed and involved as full participants in our profession and our society.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
PO1.Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2.Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3.Design/Development of Solutions:Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4.Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5.Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
